Targeted Online Search Users = Your Strong Potential Customers!
Period. There’s no dispute to that.
Let’s imagine this…
You are an accountant in San Jose. Your customers type in “Accounting Service in San Jose” in Google to find help for their accounting needs. And your website shows up on the 1st page of the Google search results. Or, better yet…your website shows up as #1 on the 1st page of the Google search results, and your competitors’ websites show up as #2, #3 and so forth. Or, the best thing that can happen to you is when your website shows up as #1, #2 and #3 on the 1st page of the Google search results! What do you think this will do to your business?
Statistic has shown that the #1 ranked website on the Search Engine results gets 42% of the clicks, #2 gets 12% of the clicks, and #3 gets 8.5% of the clicks and the rest gets all the crumbs!
Let’s go back to the accounting example.
Let’s say your website shows up as #1 on the 1st page of the Google search results. If there are 8,000 people using the search term “Accounting Service in San Jose” monthly, you will get 3,360 clicks i.e. visitors to your website (42% x 8,000). Let’s say your average customer value is $1,000 and you are able to convert these 3,360 visitors into 336 strong leads (10% conversion from visitors to leads). Out of these 336 leads, for whatever reason, only 4 people turn into your customers (1% conversion – a very conservative conversion rate!). You make $4,000 without much effort on your end!
You see…Having your website showing up on the 1st page of the Search Engine Results Page gets you more clicks by your target customers. More clicks >>> More visitors to your website >>> More sales >>> More profit! Basically more of everything that a business can ever dream of!
Now you might be questioning: How Do I Get My Website to Show Up On the 1st Page of the Search Engine Results?
Search Engine Optimization is the answer!
What Is SEO really & Why Do I Need It?
SEO, short for Search Engine Optimization, involves building an online presence that will be discovered by Google and other search engines. For the brick-and-mortar business, ranking in local and regular search means more traffic to your door and a more profitable bottom line.
Search Engine Optimization involves the proper use of keywords, gaining links from other trusted sites, and providing a constant flow of valuable content to engage your reader, develop a following and establish yourself as a trusted authority in your industry.
In a nutshell, Search Engine Optimization is about having a website that’s Search Engines friendly i.e. having the keywords that your target customers are using to find you AND having lots of back-links from other relevant websites pointing to your website, using the keywords that your customers are using to find you. The 1st part of SEO is called the on-page SEO optimization and the 2nd part of SEO is called the off-page SEO optimization. A good combination between the two of them will make your website more visible in the eyes of the Search Engines and hence in the eyes of your target customers!
The 2nd part of SEO is what’s depicted below. As you can see in the figure below, that your website has several back-links from other websites or social media sites, indicated by the green and blue one headed arrows, that are pointing to your website using the keywords that your target customers are using. There are also several links that are pointing to your other online content with the online content having back-links to your website. Again, these links were created using the keywords that your target customers are using. They are indicated by the green and blue two headed arrows. In the end, having dozens and a lot of times, hundreds of back-links and links to your other online content will make your website to be more visible online.
So You Might Have a Question – Does My Brick-and-Mortar Business Need Online SEO?
Afterall, I Advertise in My Local Paper…
Gone are the days when you can rely on an ad in the yellow pages or the local newspaper to drive customers to your door. According to recent statistics, most households do not have a copy of their local area phone book. So, what’s today’s plan? How does a business like yours gain recognition and draw in new clients? By using today’s strategies.
Today’s clients are looking for businesses online. They use their computers, laptops, iPhones and iPads. When they are on the move, they search using their iPhone or Smartphone. Online access is the way the world connects. It is no longer one of the many options that are available. It has become the way we live.
Take a look at this chart. Of the 320 million individuals who populate the United States, over 74% are Internet users.
And these numbers are growing daily. With a penetration that reaches over 3/4 of the United States population, it is time to take your place, develop a strong web presence, and begin to reap the benefits.
Despite the chart we’ve just shown you, according to the Buzz Machine, 63% of consumers and small business owners turn to the internet first for information about local companies and 82% use search engines to do so…and yet [most] small businesses spend less than 10% of their marketing budget online.”
This means:
- Over half of all consumers look to the Internet first when searching for local businesses such as yourself (not the yellow pages or the newspaper etc)
- The vast majority of those use search engines like Google and Google Places to find local companies
- Despite this incredible wave of change, most local businesses are spending less than 10 cents of every marketing dollar to meet this new demand…
Pretty staggering number huh? If you’re serious about increasing your sales revenue and profit, please don’t shortcut your marketing effort. You have to be in the forefront where your customers are. It’s as simple as that!
Okay, So How Do I Get It?
The good news about the increase in Internet usage is the fact that your client reach is absolutely unlimited. Once established, your online presence never sleeps. Your business information is available 24/7.
